Men's Soccer Tops Randolph-Macon, 6-2
Sophomore forward Will Gallop (Charlottesville, Va., Charlottesville) scored a pair of goals in leading the University of Mary Washington men's soccer team to a 6-2 victory over Randolph-Macon College on Wenesday at the Battleground. The Eagles improve to 2-2 overall on the season.

UMW opened the scoring at 12:25 as Corey Sims (Boston, Va., Culpeper)scored on an assist from Michael Johnson, whose long throw in set up Sims' scoring chance. Randolph-Macon tied the score at one with a penalty kick by Andrew Parham at 31:36.

The Eagles responded with two late goals to close the half, both by Gallop, at 37:18 and 42:53. The Eagles held a 3-1 lead at halftime.

R-MC started the second half by cutting the deficit to one at 47:59 on a goal by Ethan Cornelio, but the Eagles capped the scoring with three tallies, on an own goal at 68:56, a header by freshman Duke Mensah-Abrampah (Gainesville, Va., Battlefield) on a Matt Lawrey corner kick at 73:19, and a score by freshman Julian Nienaber (Germantown, Md., Bullis) at 83:38.

In total, the Eagles outshot the Yellow Jackets, 14-9, and had seven corner kicks to two for RMC. Emmett Rutkowski (Culpeper, Va., Culpeper) made two saves for the Eagles while Colin Royster made three stops for the Yellow Jackets.

Mary Washington will visit Lynchburg College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
