Forbrich's Late Score Lifts Mary Washington Men Past Salisbury for Homecoming, 1-0

Junior defender Ryan Forbrich (Camp Hill, Pa.) scored the game's only goal with just over 10 minutes remaining in regulation to lead the Mary Washington College men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Salisbury State University on Saturday at Homecoming. The Eagles improve to 10-2-1 on the season.

AFter a scoreless first half in which the Sea Gulls held a slim 6-4 lead in shots, the game remained scoreless through much of the second half, thanks to the stellar goalkeeping of senior Jim Hummel for MWC, who notched seven saves in gaining the shutout. At 79:24, Forbrich took a pass from Randy Scott and connected for the game winner.

In all, the Sea Gulls held a 12-8 edge in shots, while the Eagles had an 8-6 edge in corner kicks. Hummel made seven stops, while Salisbury's John Engel made four saves.

The Eagles will visit Randolph-Macon College on Wednesday.
