UMW Men's Rugby Tops Penn State, 20-15

UMW Rugby's Saturday match kicked off with a quick Penn State score 5-0. UMW quickly answered with a penalty kick by Seb Schefermann and following a stellar run by William Lindsey to bring UMW to the 10 meter line, Cam Giwa-McNeil rampaged over the try line bringing the score to 10-5 UMW.

Just before half Cale White broke free with a sublime step for a 60 meter run before offloading to Yann Aubert who scored for UMW bringing the score to 15-5. Following halftime Penn State slotted a penalty kick, 15-8. Then after a 20+ minute defensive stand by Mary Washington, Penn State forced in a try, 15-10 UMW. After a barrage of kicks between both teams and many meters made Penn State evened the score with another try, 15 all.

Following the tying score UMW found the try zone twice, both times disallowed by the ref. Despite this, UMW was relentless in attack and after a lot of pressure applied, Captain Nick Ball carried the ball off the back of a 5 meter scrum for the final try of the game. The last 5 minutes was spent by UMW trudging the ball forward and burning clock in the process. As the clock struck 00:00 Kit Waddington pulled the ball from the base of the scrum and sent it to Cale White who kicked it out to seal the win. Final Score 20-15 UMW
