Men's Rugby Tops Guelph, 29-15

Today was a big match up for UMW mens side. The University of Guelph from Canada currently ranked #2 in the country came to Fredericksburg for the first home game of the semester. UMW have had a few tough losses over the last few months but the players were up for the Canadians.

Guelph used the wind in the first half to keep UMW pinned in there 22 for most of the first half, but sting defence from UMW let them only come away with 10 points at the half time whistle. At half time UMW looked to use the size of the visitors to their advantage. Moving the ball more and attaching shoulders. Again the UMW defence was tested though as the visitors used there size to punch the ball up the middle only to have a try held up by a fantastic try saving tackle from Themba Martin-Weil.

UMW took full advantage of the wind and kicked in the second half. Leading to a number of quick turn overs and some quicker trys in the corners for UMW.
