Why UMW: “I was a transfer student who arrived at UMW for my junior year. I was looking for a liberal arts school with a smaller, tighter knit community. I didn't want to get lost in the crowd, particularly as a new student arriving mid-way through college. The smaller class sizes promoted a lot of interaction and collaboration with my classmates. The professors knew who I was, and many of them knew me personally. By my senior year, when I walked around campus, I rarely saw a face I did not recognize. I knew most of their names and could probably tell you what many of them were majoring in. I built an even stronger connection with my teammates. I spent most of my time with them. We ate meals together, hung around in between classes, worked hard on the field and then spent time together on the weekends. Many have been lifelong friends. Anytime I see a teammate there is an instant bond even if I was not that close to them during college. UMW provided me the opportunity to get a great education, have a great social experience, and, as a huge bonus, play lacrosse at a competitive level.”
