UMW Men's Lacrosse Falls to Stockton, 21-10, on Saturday

The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team dropped a 21-10 decision to Stockton University on Saturday afternoon at the Battleground. The Eagles slip to 7-6 on the season.

After Stockton opened the scoring, UMW answered at 11:41, as senior J.D. Nozemack scored unassisted. Stockton then went ahead with five straight scores, before the Eagles ended the frame with a score from Nozemack with 2:34 remaining.

In the second, the Ospreys continued to excel offensively, outscoring the Eagles, 6-1. Senior Kristophe Newman tallied the Eagles' point in the period.

Stockton opened the third quarter with three straight scores, before the Eagles answered with a goal from Garrett Keogh with 11:14 left. The Ospreys extended their lead to 18-4, before Walker, Nozemack, and Jackson Davis all scored to pull UMW to within 18-7. Stockton ended the third with a pair of goals to take a 20-7 lead into the fourth quarter.

Stockton opened the fourth quarter scoring at 11:48, before the Eagles tallied the final three goals of the game. Keogh scored on a Nozemack assist with 9:22 left, and Nozemack followed on a Hunter Tipton pass at 7:25. Walker closed the scoring on a Green pass with 3:25 remaining.

Stoockton led in shots, 52-36, as well as ground balls, 45-38. UMW goalkeeper Riley Green made 13 saves in 32 minutes, and Wyatt Martin added two saves in 28 minutes.

Mary Washington will be back in action on Wednesday at Southern Virginia University at 5:00 p.m.
