UMW Men's Lacrosse Tops Goucher, 16-4, on Saturday

The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team rolled to a 16-4 win at Goucher College on Saturday in Towson, Md. The Eagles improve to 5-3 on the season.

After a scoreless first, the Eagles jumped up with four scores in the first eight minutes of the second. Cameron Walker scored at 12:48 on a J.D. Nozemack assist, and again at 10:32 on a Jackson Davis helper. Nozemack scored at 8:57 on a Walker assist, and Garrett Keogh added another at 7:17 on a Jackson Davis assist. 

After a Gopher goal closed the second quarter scoring, UMW took command, outscoring the hosts, 7-1, in the third. Kristophe Newman scored a pair of man-up goals, and Nozemack followed at 12:20 with another man-up tally. After Goucher cut the margin to 7-2, the Eagles started back up on a four-goal spurt to close the second, with Owen Castleman, Nozemack, Ethan Castleman, and Nozemack adding to the UMW tally.

In the fourth, Grant Cragg scored a pair of goals to open the frame, and Sterling Colgan and Newman added man-up scores. Michael Seraphin-Jones capped the Eagles' scoring with 5:03 left.

Nozemack had four goals and two assists, while Newman had three goals and one assist for UMW. Riley Green had four saves and Wyatt Martin one for the Eagles in goal, while John Staugaitis had nine ground balls.

The Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday, when they host Hampden-Sydney College at 4:00 p.m.
