UMW Men's Lax Tops Hood, 18-4, in CAC Tourney 1st Round; Ties School Record for Wins


Freshman John Bohlinger scored three goals and added two assists, and junior Harry Snyder added three goals and one assist to pace the University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team to an 18-4 victory over Hood College on Sunday in the first round of the Capital Athletic Conference tournament. The Eagles improve to 11-5 on the season, tying the school record for wins in a season.

Mary Washington jumped on top early, as Luke Dick scored on a Snyder assistjust seven seconds into the game. The Eagles led, 4-0, after 15 minutes, thanks to goals from Chip Pittard, Evan Weiss, and Bohlinger.

UMW scored six times in the second, led by two goals each from Bohlinger and Snyder, to take a 10-1 lead to halftime. Senior Mark Bowler scored twice in the third, and the Eagles netted six goals in the fourth, led by two from Kyle Johnson.

The Eagles led in shots, 52-27, and in ground balls, 48-23. Ryan Kleman had seven saves and Ryan Montgomery three for UMW.

Mary Washington, winners of six straight, will visit second-seeded Salisbury University on Wednesday in the CAC semifinals at 4:00 p.m.
