UMW Men's Lacrosse Tops Randolph-Macon, 10-8

Sophomore attacker Harry Snyder (Charlottesville, Va., St. Anne's-Belfield) scored five goals and added one assist to lead the University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team to a 10-8 victory over visiting Randolph-Macon College on Wednesday at the Battleground. The Eagles, winners of four straight, improve to 4-3 on the year.

The Eagles found themselves trailing, 3-1 after one quarter, but a pair of Snyder scores in the second trimmed the Yellow Jackets' halftime advantage to 4-3. After RMC opened the third with a man-up goal to take a 5-3 lead, the Eagles scored three straight, with tallies from Kohl Meyer (Shawnee, N.J., Shawnee), Sean Dacey (Round Hill, Va., Loudoun Valley), and Paul Tunick (Annandale, Va., Woodson), to take a 6-5 lead, their first of the game. A Randolph-Macon goal at the end of the third sent the game to the final 15 minutes tied at six.

Mark Bowler (Cary, N.C., Cary) gave the Eagles a 7-6 lead with the first score in the fourth quarter, but Randolph-Macon tied the score several minutes later. Snyder helped the Eagles regain the lead with 10:28 left, but the Yellow Jackets tied the score again with 6:15 remaining.

Snyder would score the game winner just nine seconds later, and added an insurance tally with 5:31 to go.

Mary Washington outshot Randolph-Macon, 42-31, and won 15 of 22 faceoffs. UMW goalie Matt Prin (Olney, Md., Sherwood) made 12 saves, while Adam Liberto had eight saves for RMC.

The Eagles will host Goucher College on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
