UMW Men's Basketball Falls at Emory, 61-55, on Friday Afternoon

The University of Mary Washington men's basketball team dropped a 61-55 decision at Emory University on Friday afternoon, in Atlanta, Ga. The Eagles slip to 7-5 on the season.

In a back-and-forth affair, the visiting Eagles were able to gain the lead by halftime, at 28-25, but were outscored, 36-27, in the second in coming up short.

Senior guard Zack Blue led the Eagles witth 13 points, while classmate Daniel Peterson added 12 points and a game-high 15 rebounds in scoring the double-double. 

UMW shot 22-66 from the floor (33.3%), making 3-17 three point attempts and 8-12 free throws. Emory shot 37.7% from the field (20-53), making 7-23 three point tries and 14-25 free throws. UMW controlled the boards, leading 51-38 in rebounding.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday in the consolation game at Emory vs. Maryville College at noon.
