UMW Men's Basketball Rips Hood, 77-46

Senior guard Ryan Farrar scored 21 points as the University of Mary Washington men's basketball team drilled eight second half three pointers to pull away from Hood College, 77-46, in Capital Athletic Conference action on Wednesday night in Frederick, Md. UMW improves to 16-6 overall, matching last year's win total, and 11-2 in CAC play.

Mary Washington built an eight-point lead by halftime, at 31-23, but exploded for 46 second half points to put away its biggest margin of victory in the conference this year. In addition to Farrar's 21 points on 7-10 three pointers, freshman Sean Armstrong went 7-9 from the field en route to 15 points. Sophomore guard Walt Smith went 5-10 from the floor to be the third in UMW's triumvirate with 10 points to go with 10 assists.

In all UMW shot 55.4% from the field (31-56), including 11-24 three pointers. Hood shot just 28% from the field (13-46), making just 4-17 three pointers. The Eagles held a 34-31 rebounding edge, and forced 21 Blazer turnovers.

The Eagles will return to action on Saturday when they visit York College of PA at 2:00 p.m. in another key CAC showdown.
