UMW Men's Basketball Drops 65-56 Decision at Hood

The University of Mary Washington men's basketball team dropped its third straight contest, a 65-56 decision against Hood College in a game played at Fort Detrick, Md. on Wednesday night in Capital Athletic Conference action. UMW falls to 11-5 overall, and reaches the halfway point in conference play with a 5-3 mark.

In a game that featured lead changes throughout, the Eagles led by four points at intermission, 27-23. Neither team shot particularly well, as UMW shot 38.2%, slightly better than Hood's 37.5%, including making just 2-20 three pointers. The difference in the game came via UMW's 22 turnovers and nine misses from the free throw line (10-19).

Hood was able to pull away late after the majority of the second half saw the game within two scores either way, with their lead growing to as many as 10 in the final minute. 

Mary Washington was led by Tad Dickman (Springfield, Va., Robert E. Lee) 's 12 points and 10 rebounds, while sophomore J.R. Gray (Staunton, Va., Robert E. Lee) added 10 points and 10 rebounds. Justin Stone had 13 points to lead the Blazers, who move into a tie with the Eagles at 5-3 in the league standings.

Mary Washington will host Frostburg State University on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in another CAC contest.
