#17 St. Mary's Tops UMW Men's Basketball, 91-65

Seventeenth-ranked St. Mary's College trailed by 10 points with two minutes left in the first half, but cut the deficit to two by halftime and ran away with a 91-65 win at the University of Mary Washington on Wednesday night in a game for first place in the Capital Athletic Conference standings. Mary Washington falls to 11-3 overall and 5-1 in league play, while the Seahawks improve to 11-3 and 5-0.

Mary Washington came out firing at the start of the game, and built up a 42-32 lead with 1:59 left in the half. But the Seahawks closed the half on an 8-0 run to cut Mary Washington's lead to 42-40 by halftime.

The second half saw the Seahawks shoot 54% from the floor, while the Eagles turned ice cold, shooting 26%. The Eagles turned the ball over 23 times, while the Seahawks had 20 turnovers in the game.

The Eagles were led by freshman Bradley Riester (Richmond, Va., Monacan) 's 14 points, while Tad Dickman (Springfield, Va., Robert E. Lee) added 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Mike Harvey (East Berlin, Pa., Bermudian Springs) added 11. St. Mary's was led by Alex Franz's 17 points.

The Eagles will return to action on Saturday when they visit Wesley College at 4:00 p.m.
