Riester's 29 Leads UMW Men's Basketball Past Salisbury, 80-75



Freshman guard Bradley Riester (Richmond, Va., Monacan) scored a career-high 29 points, connecting on 8-13 three point attempts, to lead the University of Mary Washington men's basketball team to an 80-75 win over Salisbury University on Wednesday evening at Goolrick Gymnasium in Capital Athletic Conference action. Freshman E.J. Willis (Alexandria, Va., T.C. Williams) and junior Tad Dickman (Springfield, Va., Robert E. Lee) each added 14 points for the Eagles, who improve to 10-2 overall and 4-0 in CAC play and run their win streak to eight straight.

The Eagles led, 37-34, at halftime, despite the Sea Gulls shooting 52% from the floor in the opening frame. UMW made 7-16 long-range attempts in the first half, including four from Reister. In the second half, Reister made four more treys, and Willis scored nine points to lead the way. The Eagles shot a blistering 53% in the second half, while the Gulls cooled to 34%.

The Eagles led in rebounding, 41-33, and caused 18 Sea Gull turnovers, but committed 19 themselves. UMW shot the same percentage (46.2%) from both the free throw line and three-point range (12-26). Willis also led the Eagles with seven rebounds. Salisbury was led by Mike Atkins' 22 points.

Mary Washington will visit York College on Saturday in another CAC contest, starting at 2:00 p.m.
