DOVER, DEL - University of Mary Washington senior center Brandon Altmann (Vienna, Va., James Madison) scored 27 points, but the Eagle basketball team fell at Division I Delaware State University, 59-43, on Tuesday night. The Eagles fall to 1-2 on the season.
UMW trailed, 28-11, at halftime, shooting just 12% from the floor. The Eagles heated up to 60% in the second half to shoot 38% for the game, and outrebounded the hosts, 31-28, for the game. The Eagles committed 22 turnovers.
Mary Washington will face Shenandoah University on Saturday at Hampden-Sydney College in Farmville, Va.
