DOVER, DEL. - Senior center Brandon Altmann (Vienna, Va., James Madison) scored a game-high 33 points and grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds, but those totals weren't enough as the University of Mary Washington men's basketball team dropped a 91-84 decision at Wesley College on Wednesday night in Capital Athletic Conference action. The Eagles fall to 6-10 overall and 3-6 in CAC play.

In a back-and-forth affair, the Eagles fell behind early, but jumped ahead and held a 36-34 halftime advantage. Less than two minutes into the second half, the Eagles led by seven points at 44-37 on an Altmann free throw. The Eagles kept the lead at seven until 11:17 remaining, when an Altmann tip-in provided the Eagles with a 61-54 advantage.

But Wesley took over for a four minute stretch that saw the Wolverines take a 14-0 run to lead, 68-61, with 7:29 to go, and kept the lead at at least three points the rest of the way.

In addition to Altmann's double-double, sophomore guard Ryan Farrar (Ashburn, Va., Centreville, Va.) scored 18 points, and freshman guard Rocky Ullah (Stafford, Va., Brooke Point) added 11 points for the Eagles. Senior forward Eric Rolander (Alexandria, Va., Gonzaga) scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds. Wesley saw five players reach double figures, with Rudy Thomas (11-11 free throws) lead the way with 20 points.

For the game, Mary Washington shot 27-57 (47%) from the field, including 9-31 three pointers. UMW went 21-28 from the free throw line. Wesley shot 47.5% from the floor, making 10-24 three pointers, and went 25-36 from the line. The Eagles struggled through 17 turnovers in the game despite outrebounding the Wolverines, 41-30.

Mary Washington will visit Gallaudet University on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in another CAC contest.
