BALTIMORE, MD - Senior center Brandon Altmann (Vienna, Va., James Madison) scored 24 points - including his 1,000th point at UMW - and grabbed nine rebounds, and senior forward Eric Rolander (Alexandria, Va., Gonzaga) added 16 points and 10 boards, but it wasn't enough as the University of Mary Washington men's basketball team dropped a 77-69 decision at Johns Hopkins University on Saturday in Baltimore. The Eagles fall to 4-5 on the year.

The Eagles trailed throughout the first half, but were able to wrestle the lead at 27-25 on a three pointer from Bart Reese with 4:16 left in the half. UMW led, 32-31, at intermission.

The Blue Jays gained the lead early in the second half, and held a six-point advantage with 2:52 to play, at 60-54. Altmann scored three points and Rocky Ullah (Stafford, Va., Brooke Point) hit a three pointer to tie the score, and after JHU missed a last second shot, the game went to overtime.

UMW pulled ahead early on an Altmann layup, and led, 69-67, on a Bart Reese (Herndon, Va., Oakton) three pointer. But the Eagles would not score again in the final 2:16 to drop to 4-5 on the year.

In addition to Altmann and Rolander, Ullah also reached double figures with 10 points. The Eagles shot 46.4% from the floor to 40% for JHU, but the Blue Jays held a 39-36 advantage in rebounds.

Altmann becomes the 17th player in school history to surpass 1,000 points, and the fifth in the past five seasons.

The Eagles will face Kean University (3-8) on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in the consolation game of the JHU tournament.
