UMW Freshman Sebastien Bonte Named CAC Men's Golfer of the Week for Second Time

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Mary Washington freshman Sebastien Bonte collected CAC Men's Golfer of the Week accolades for Oct. 17, 2017.

Mary Washington freshman Sebastien Bonte collected CAC Men's Golfer of the Week accolades for the second time this fall after placing second in a field of 68 golfers at the Ted Keller Memorial Invitational with a two-day total of five-over par 145. Bonte opened the tournament with a +4 74, followed by a +1 round of 71 on the final day of competition. The Eagles finished in fourth place among the 11 competing squads.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

The 2017 fall men's golf season is winding down, with only four more tournaments slated for CAC teams ... New Jersey City junior Bobby Williams set a school and collegiate course record with a +4 round of 75 as the New Jersey City University men's golf team defeated local rival William Paterson University, 328-335, in a dual match on October 8 at the Galloping Hill Golf Course ... Southern Virginia freshman Coulson Hardy tied for 12th at the two-day Emory & Henry Fall Classic with a total of 166 (+22), including a season-low 79 on day two. The Knights finished fourth in the team standings ... York junior Tyler Newrton placed second overall and led the Spartans to their first tournament title in over two years at the Gino Biondi Memorial. Newton and the Spartans erased a 10-stroke deficit heading into the final round to capture the championship. Newton shot 149 throughout the 36 holes, including a one-over-par 72 on the opening day, finishing two strokes back of the individual champion. Newton finished the fall with a team-best average of 75.5 through ten rounds of play. He earned one tournament championship (2017 Montgomery Cup) and four top three finishes for the fall.
