The University of Mary Washington field hockey team dropped a 2-1 decision at Bryn Mawr College on Saturday afternoon, as the hosts scored the game winner with just two seconds left in the second overtime. UMW slips to 3-1 on tthe season.
The visiting Eagles scored first, as junior Lauren Boucher scored her first of the season after missing all of last year with injury at 13:57 on a Caroline Porter assist. UMW held the 1-0 advanage through halftime, and all the way to the third quarter, when the hosts evened the score a 1-1 with two minutes remaining in the frame.
The game remained tied through regulation and 19:58 of two overtime periods, as the Owls found the game winner with just two seconds left before the game would have advanced to penalty strokes.
UMW led in shots, 15-8, as well as penalty corners, 11-7. Eagles goalie Bailey McNabb made five saves in taking the loss.
The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday when they visit the University of Lynchburg at 6:00 p.m.
