UMW Field Hockey Falls in 2OT at Centre on Sunday, 2-1

The University of Mary Washington field hockey team dropped a 2-1 decision in overtime at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles see their five game win streak come to an end, and slip to 6-4 on the season.

In a balanced game, Centre scored first, with the goal coming 8:27 before halftime. UMW would find the tying score from freshman Paige Stewart on an assist from classmate Lauren Boucher with 6:04 remaining in regulation. The Colonels would find the game winner in the second extra overtime period.

Centre led in shots, 9-6, as well as penalty corners, 9-7. UMW goalie Chloe Billy made one save in the contest.

The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday at Catholic University at 6:00 p.m.
