UMW Field Hockey Blanks Randolph-Macon, 3-0, on Wednesday Night

The University of Mary Washington field hockey team used goals from three different players in defeating Randolph-Macon College, 3-0, on Wednesday night in Ashland, Va. The Eagles improve to 5-3 on the season, and run their win streak to four straight.

The Eagles jumped ahead late in the first quarter, as junior Maggie Ellis (Richmond, Va. / Trinity Episcopal) scored on a Jessica Wood (Fauquier, Va. / Kettle Run) assist with 1:05 remaining in the first quarter. 

After a scoreless second quarter, UMW added an insurance tally with 7:28 left in the third quarter, as sophomore Riley Tengwall (Grasonville, Md. / Kent Island) scored on an assist from senior Sydney Keating (Fairfax, Va. / Fairfax). UMW added another score in the fourth quarter, with 4:47 remaining in regulation, as freshman Lauren Boucher (Virginia Beach, Va. / Frank W. Cox) scored her second goal in as many games.

Mary Washington led in shots, 16-7, as well as penalty corners, 13-3. The Eagles saw junior goalie Chloe Billy (Henrico, Va./Godwin) make two saves in the cage.

The Eagles will return to action on Saturday when they visit Transylvania University at 1:00 p.m.
