UMW Field Hockey Closes Regular Season with 1-0 Win at St. Mary's

Freshman midfielder Sydney Keating scored the game's only goal midway through the first half, as the University of Mary Washington field hockey team closed the regular season with a 1-0 victory at St. Mary's College on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles improve to 10-5 on the season, and will host the Seahawks on Sunday in the first round of the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament.

The game stood scoreless until 18:35 of the first half, when Keating caged the only score of the game. The Eagles led in shots, 13-8, as well as in penalty corners, 5-3. UMW goalkeeper Jessica Cavolt made four saves in registering the shutout, while Skylar Limpert had seven stops for St. Mary's.

The Eagles will host St. Mary's on Sunday in the first round of the conference tournament by way of gaining the four seed with today's win. The Seahawks are seeded fifth. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. at the Battleground.
