Shelby Press Named CAC Defensive Field Hockey Player of the Week

FIELD HOCKEY - DEFENSIVE POTW

Shelby Press | Mary Washington | Sr. | D

Alexandria, Va. | Hayfield

Press has emerged as a top defender for Mary Washington of late, and continued her outstanding play with four defensive saves in the Eagles' three games last week. She had two defensive saves in a 3-1 win over Rhodes, one defensive save in a 3-1 win over Frostburg State, and another in a 4-3 loss to York.

Field Hockey Honor Roll

Brittan Muir | Christopher Newport | Sr. | D
Muir pieced together a record-setting week while leading the Captains to three victories, including a pair of shutouts. Anchoring the back line, Muir was the lone Captain to play all 288 minutes during the week, including 78 in an overtime marathon against No. 15 Johns Hopkins on Monday. During that time, she broke the program's career record for minutes played, which now stands at 4,768.

Sierra Smizer | Frostburg State | Jr. | GK
Smizer totaled 36 saves last week in the cage for the Bobcats.

Dom Farrace | Salisbury | So. | GK
Despite surrendering three scores, two of them came on penalty strokes awarded during the contest at York. Farrace turned away six shots that she faced in goal, allowing only one goal in the normal course of play, and notched her fourth shutout of the year against St. Mary's.
