Field Hockey's Christine Loehr Named Second Team All-America by Longstreth/NFHCA

University of Mary Washington senior field hockey player Christine Loehr has been named a second team All-America selection by Longstreth and the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

Loehr scored 11 goals and added 11 assists this season for the Eagles, giving her 31 goals and 27 assists in her four-year career. She was selected to play in the NFHCA National North-South Senior All-Star Game, and earned first team all-region and all-conference honors as well.

Loehr becomes the 25th All-American in program history. This season, the Eagles finished 12-6 overall, and advanced to the CAC Championship game.

A total of 48 student-athletes representing 34 different schools were selected to the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-America Team announced on Tuesday.

The squad consisted of 30 seniors, 12 juniors and six sophomores. Twelve schools had multiple student-athletes on the All-America Team, led by Tufts and the University of New England with three honorees apiece. The College of New Jersey and Babson each placed a pair of players on the first-team All-America list, while others with two All-Americans included national champion Messiah, Rochester, Middlebury, Ursinus, Skidmore, Hamilton, Salisbury and Bowdoin.

Ursinus senior Aliki Torrence and Messiah junior Carissa Gehman each made the All-America Team for the third time. Torrence earned a second straight selection to the first team, while Gehman was on the second team for the second year in a row and has made the All-America squad in each of her first three seasons for the Falcons.

The College of New Jersey seniors Jaclyn Douglas and Lexi Smith joined Torrence in making the first-team All-America list for the second year in a row, while Trinity (Conn.) junior forward Kelcie Finn also made a second appearance on the first team after previously earning a spot in 2014. Senior student-athletes who made the All-America Team for a second straight season also included Middlebury's Lauren Berestecky, FDU-Florham's Kim Davis, Keene State's Sami Smith, Hamilton's Eva Rosencrans, Ursinus' Amber Steigerwalt, Alvernia's Margaret Wentzel, Bowdoin's Kimmy Ganong and Mount Holyoke's Ruvimbo Mushavi. Kenyon's Sarah Speroff and William Smith's Hannah Wood each made the list for a second straight season as juniors.
