Allegra Massey-Elim Named CAC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week

YORK, Pa. -- Mary Washington junior Allegra Massey-Elim and Wesley freshman Makenzie McIntyre were honored as the CAC Field Hockey Players of the Week for Oct. 10, 2016.

Mary Washington junior Allegra Massey-Elim was selected as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring a pair of goals, including the game-winner, in a 3-2 win over St. Mary's in the Eagles' only action of the week. Massey-Elim has six goals and three assists on the year, including a pair of game-winners. 

Defensive Player of the Week

Princess Anne, Md. | Washington

Wesley freshman Makenzie McIntyre secured CAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after totaling 14 saves in a 2-0 week for the Wolverines. McIntyre opened the week by allowing one goal and making seven saves in the second half against Virginia Wesleyan to preserve a 4-2 victory. She then earned the start against Frostburg State on Sunday and pitched a shutout, stopping seven shots and leading the Wolverines to their first CAC win since 2014.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE 

Salisbury remained ranked No. 4 in last week's Penn Monto / National Field Hockey Coaches Association Poll, while Mary Washington and Christopher Newport received votes ... CAC play ramps up this week with six matchups across the conference ... CNU went 1-1 last week with a 1-0 defeat to Kenyon and a 2-0 win over Roanoke. Goalkeeper Bailey Lien allowed just one goal in 141 minutes of action, and registered her 15th career shutout during a 2-0 victory over Roanoke, who entered the weekend ranked sixth in the NCAA with a 4.33 goals-per-game average ... UMW freshman Lauren Hopkins notched a goal and two assists in the Eagles' 3-2 CAC win over St. Mary's ... St. Mary's Megan Moore picked up a goal and an assist in the road loss to Mary Washington. Moore is currently second on the team with five goals and 12 points this season ... Salisbury's Emily Lemanski flicked home the game-winner off a rebound in the Sea Gulls' 2-0 win against Catholic on Wednesday. Goalkeeper Tressie Windsor notched her third shutout of the year in the cage ... Wesley's Allison Perugini tallied two goals and an assist in a 2-0 week for the Wolverines, including the game-winner vs. Frostburg State ... York sophomore Lindsay Nye continued her scoring spree with three goals last week in wins over Stevenson and Lynchburg. Nye leads the CAC in goals (16) and points (36), has scored at least one goal in 10-straight games, and has scored one point in every game this year. Sydney LaMarsh helped spearhead the York defense to the two wins, adding an assist in the victory over Lynchburg. For the season, LaMarsh has four points on a goal and two assists from her defensive back position. The Spartans have won five straight.
