This season, UMW Field Hockey has made it our focus to play for something bigger than ourselves. Having Wesley on our team constantly reminds us how lucky we are to step out on the field everyday and play the sport we love. Knowing there are kids like Wesley who don't have the same opportunities that we do encourages us to work that much harder towards the goals that we set for ourselves. His passion for sports and courage inspires our team to be the best teammates and friends that we can be. We are also lucky to have the opportunity to give back in every game we play. With every goal we score this season, our coach’s mom, Prince Mclaughlin, is graciously donating $10 for every goal we score to Leukemia and Lymphoma society. Her team "young hearts" who participates in the Light the Night walk in DC will match our total at the end of the season. Keeping this and Wesley in mind at all times, there is always something more than a win coming from our games.
