UMW Senior Haley Kane Named 2015 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA National Scholar Athlete Award Winner

For the second straight year, and the second year of the award's existence, University of Mary Washington field hockey star Haley Kane has been named as the National Scholar Athlete of the Year award winner by Zag Field Hockey and the National Field Hockey Coaches Association of America.

The award is presented to the member of the first, second, or third team All-America team who boasts the highest cumulative grade-point average. Kane maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA.

"For the past four years Haley Kane has demonstrated what it means to be a Division III student-athlete", said UMW head coach Lindsey Elliott. "She has excelled on the field, gaining All-American honors the past two years, all while maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA. It is a great honor to receive National recognition for Haley's accomplishments both on the field and in classroom. We are truly proud of the overall student-athlete experience that UMW has to offer."

Kane gained All-America honors for the second straight year, after collecting all-region honors for the fourth straight time after finishing third in school history in assists. She finished with 36 goals and 28 assists, good for 100 career points. She was a first team all-conference pick as well.
