Salisbury senior forward MELISSA SLOCUM (Salisbury, Md./Wicomico) was selected as the CAC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week while Mary Washington senior goalie CLAIRE GIANELLE (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) was selected as the CAC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week for Sept. 24, 2012.

Slocum is the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after contributing a goal and three assists in two victories last week. Slocum tallied a game-tying goal in the first half, then adding a key assist in a come-from-behind victory over Catholic. She then chipped in two helpers in Saturday’s CAC victory at St. Mary’s.

Gianelle was picked for the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after recording seven saves without being scored upon in two UMW victories. She starte with a two-save performance in 53 shutout minutes at Washington & Lee, then denied York five ties in the CAC opener for both teams, which resulted in a 3-0 Eagles win.
