#11 UMW Field Hockey Falls at #12 Catholic, 2-0


The 11th ranked University of Mary Washington field hockey team was held scoreless for the first time all season in a 2-0 loss at \#12 Catholic University on Wednesday night in Washington, D.C. The Eagles fall to 6-2 on the season.

Catholic scored with 25 minutes left in the first half on a Kim Hermann goal, and added an insurance score five minutes into the second half by Mary Swarthout. In all, the Cardinals held a 13-10 edge in shots, and had nine penalty corners to eight for the Eagles.

Junior goalie Claire Gianelle (Salisbury, Md., Parkside) had six saves in cage for the Eagles, who will return to action on Saturday when they visit York College of Pa. in a Capital Athletic Conference game starting at 1:00 p.m.
