#18 UMW Field Hockey Falls at Wesley in CAC Semifinals, 1-0

The 18th ranked University of Mary Washington field hockey team dropped a 1-0 decision at Wesley College in the Capital Athletic Conference tournament semifinals on Wednesday evening in Dover, Delaware. The Eagles fall to 15-5 on the season.

The lone score of the game was scored by Wesley's Abigail Hill at 23:34 on an assist from Danielle Tearl. The Eagles were short-handed at the time, after a yellow card was issued to UMW.

From there, the game went scoreless for the final 46:24, spelling defeat for the second time this season for UMW at Wesley. The Wolverines led in shots, 11-7, and UMW held a 7-6 edge in penalty corners. UMW freshman Emily Badis (Kennett Square, Pa., Kennett) made four saves for the Eagles, while Elizabeth Groom had two saves for Wesley.

The Wolverines will advance to the CAC Championship on Saturday.
