University of Mary Washington senior field hockey player
Morgan Jones (Williamsburg, Va., Walsingham Academy) has
been selected as a first team all-region selection by the National
Field Hockey Coaches' Association. Junior Lisa Charney
(Fairfax, Va., Fairfax) and sophomore Caitlin Baker
(Falls Church, Va., McLean) were named as second team
selections.
Jones led the Eagles with 24 goals and 10 assists for 58 points,
and finished her illutsrious career second all-time in school
history in both goals and total points. She has already been
selected as a first team All-Capital Athletic Conference selection
this fall.
Charney, in her first year at UMW. scored 19 goals and added a
team-high 11 assists for 49 total points. She, too, has been named
as a first team all-conference performer in addition to second team
honors on the all-region team.
Baker turned in an excellent sophomore season after gaining CAC
Rookie of the Year honors in 2010, scoring 17 goals and adding 10
assists, as the Eagles smashed the seasons coring record and
finishing second in the nation in goals per game and total
points.
