UMW Field Hockey Falls to #17 Catholic, 2-0


The University of Mary Washington field hockey team dropped a 2-0 decision to 17th ranked Catholic University on Wednesday at the Battleground. UMW falls to 3-4 on the year, while the Cards improve to 7-0.

The Eagles fell behind early, as CUA's Emma Dixon scored just over seven minutes into the game. The Cards scored again less than three minutes into the second half as Tori Gagliardi found the cage.

Mary Washington outshot Catholic, 10-6, and had 10 penalty corners to two for the Cards. Senior goalie Chrissy Bowdren (Fairfax Station, Va., Robinson) had four saves for UMW, while Krystianna Ramsdell had nine stops for Catholic.

The Eagles will return to Capital Athletic Conference action on Saturday when they host Frostburg State University at 1:00 p.m.
