UMW Field Hockey Falls to Randolph-Macon, 1-0

In the first home night game in program history, the University of Mary Washington field hockey team dropped a 1-0 decision to Randolph-Macon College on Wednesday night on the UMW recreation turf field. The Eagles drop to 11-7 on the season, and will next play on a day and against an opponent to be determined.

After 66 minutes of scoreless play, Randolph-Macon's Monica Jenkins scored the game's lone goal with 4:12 remaining in the game. The Yellow Jackets outshot the Eagles, 14-11, and had 10 penalty corners to 11 for the Eagles. UMW junior Chrissy Bowdren had five saves for the Eagles, while Nicole Bloodsworth ahd six stops for Randolph-Macon.

The Eagles will await their fate in the Capital Athletic Conference tournament on Thursday, as Wesley plays Stevenson. If Stevenson wins, the Eagles would be the second seed in next week's conference tournament. If Wesley wins, there would be a three-way tie for second place, and a coin flip would determine the second, third, and fourth seeds.
