Four University of Mary Washington field hockey players have gained academic honors for the 2009 season by Gladiator by SGI and the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. The National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2009-10 academic year. The UMW players named to the list are Claire Gianelle (Salisbury, Md., Parkside), Emma Jones (Yorktown, Va., York), Heidi Sheehan (Scituate, Mass., Scituate), and Sarah Trimble (Yorktown, Va., Tabb).
