UMW Gains Reserve Title at Home Show

The University of Mary Washington Equestrian team concluded their regular season today at home with a team Reserve Champion finish for the show day! The Eagles earned several top placings today to secure reserve champion.

Junior Sophia Looney won her Pre-Novice Flat class for the Eagles and freshman Erin Kenealy followed with a first place in Introductory Flat! Freshman Adrianna Brame earned second place in both her Limit Flat and Fences classes for the Eagles! Both senior Mary Margaret Burns and freshman Sarah Dietz placed second in their respective Novice Flat classes. Mary Margaret's second place finish was her ticket to qualifying for regionals next weekend! Senior Virginia Newman also placed second in Limit Fences. Haley Carpenter wrapped up the day for the Eagles with a third place finish in her respective Introductory Flat class!

Today concluded the regular season for the Eagles and next weekend marks the beginning of the Eagles' post-season competition. Next Saturday, February 22, the UMW Equestrian Team hosts Zone 4, Region 4 IHSA Regionals at Hazelwild Farm. There are four individual riders competing for UMW including: senior Julianna Ianuzi in Open Flat, junior Virginia Newman in Limit Flat, senior Mary Margaret Burns in Novice Flat, and sophomore Rachel Wright in Introductory Flat. All are welcome to attend!
