UMW Riding Team Hosts Regional Show; Counts to Nationals and Team to Zone Show Next

The University of Mary Washington riding team hosted the regional championships at Hazelwild Farm on Sunday. Freshman Nikki Ferrell took first place in open equitation on the flat, and will advance to the zone show on March 28.

Junior Kimberly Counts finished second in open on the flat and open over fences, and will also advance to the IHSA national show as the high point rider in the region. She will compete for the Cacchione Cup at IHSA nationals, as well as at zones in open on the flat and open over fences.

Junior Daniel Odum finished second in his walk trot canter class, and will advance to the zone championships at Goucher College on March 28, along with Ferrell and Counts. The team will advance to zones as well, with the hopes of advancing to the national show.
