The University of Mary Washington riding team clinched the
regional championship on Sunday with a second place finish at the
Goucher College Show in Towson, Md. UMW tied with Christopher
Newport with 38 points.
First place finishes included Brittany Hill (Frederick, Md.,
Linganore) in her open on the flat class, Molly Banfield
(Wake, Va., Christchurch) in her intermediate on the flat
class, and Diana Roberts (Glen Allen, Va., Saint
Gertrude) in walk-trot.
As a team, the Eagles will advance to the zone championships on
April 10.
Individually, the Eagles had the following advance to the regional
championships hosted by UMW next Sunday:
Open flat and fences - Brittany Hill
Intermediate flat - Haley Cook
Intermediate fences - Mary Ryan Richardson
Novice flat - Mary Ryan Richardson and Christine Cook
Novice fences - Emilia Sanchez
Walk, Trot, Canter - Isabel Moore
Walk, Trot - Meghan Olson
The top three individuals in each event will advance to the zone
show hosted by Bridgewater College as well.
