UMW Riding Takes 2nd, 1st at Maryland Shows
The University of Mary Washington riding teams competed at the Mount St. Mary's College and University of Maryland-Baltimore County two-day shows this weekend, finishing in second place on Saturday and taking first place on Sunday.

On Saturday, the Eagles finished three points behind first place Goucher College. First place finishers for the Eagles included Haley Cook (Duxburg, Mass., Duxburg) in intermediate on the flat, Chelsea Chamberlain (Groton, Conn., Robert E. Fitch) in intermediate over fences, Christine Cook (Baltimore, Md., Bryn Mawr) in novice on the flat, Marina Lupini (Midlothian, Va., Clover Hill) in walk-trot, and Clair Maher (Alexandria, Va., T.C. Williams) and Marina Frano (Woodbridge, Va., Woodbridge) in walk-trot-canter.

On Sunday, the Eagles took first with 39 points, as Goucher and William and Mary each scoring 35 points.  Winners included Hannah Woll (Katonah, N.Y., John Jay) in intermediate over fences, Mary Ryan Richardson (Powhatan, Va., Powhatan) in novice flat, and Isabel Moore (Pembroke, Va., Blacksburg) in walk-trot-canter.
