UMW Names '99 Alum Teresa Seay as Riding Coach

The University of Mary Washington has announced that Teresa Seay, a 1999 alumnae, has been named as the new head coach for the varsity riding program.

"We're excited to have Teresa join our staff on an official basis," said UMW Athletic Director Edward Hegmann. "She was very successful as a competitor in our program, has assisted the university for 10 years, and it's great to see one of our own come home to lead the program."

Seay, who has worked at Hazelwild Farm - the school's home facility - since graduating from UMW, and has served as an assistant coach for the Eagles, now takes over as the head coach for 2009-2010. She will continue teaching classes for the university.

"it's an honor to take the reigns of the Eagle riding program," said Seay. "As a former rider at Mary Washington, I am very proud of the successful tradition the team has maintained over the years, and look forward to building on that success into the future."

A very successful rider while competing for Mary Washington, Seay advanced to the 1998 IHSA National Championships. She graduated with a degree in Biology in 1999.
