The University of Mary Washington equestrian team placed as reserve champion at its first home meet of the 2010 spring season on Saturday at Hazelwild Farm. The Eagles saw five riders take first place finishes.

Brittany Hill (Frederick, Md., Linganore) finished first for UMW in open equitation over fences, Haley Cook (Duxburg, Mass., Duxburg) took first in intermediate on the flat, and Sarah Leavitt (Virginia Beach, Va., Norfolk Academy) was first in intermediate over fences. Rebecca Presor (Leesburg, Va., Heritage) and Isabel Moore (Pembroke, Va., Blacksburg) both took first in their class at advanced walk-trot-canter.

The Eagles will host another home show on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
