UMW Baseball Downs Bridgewater, 6-0

On the back of a solid start from Brendan McComber and a pair of innings from Griffin Graham and Connor Hassan, Mary Washington Baseball (11-3) recorded its third shutout of the season in a 6-0 victory over Bridgewater on Tuesday afternoon in Fredericksburg, Va.

The Eagles got five innings from McComber, who picked up his second win of the season, then Graham pitched the sixth and seventh, while Hassan delievered in the two final innings.  McComber yielded four base hits and four walks, while striking out three. Both Graham and Hassan worked around a walk each, while Graham recorded three strikeouts and Hassan recorded five.

The Eagles' offense got off to a hot start, too, as they scored a pair of runs in the first inning when Ty Lowe drove in Burke Steifman with a sacrafice fly, then Tommy Martinez added another run when he reached on an error.

UMW added another run in the third when Martinez doubled home Lowe with two outs. In the fifth, Martinez recorded his second RBI when he drove in Ayscue with a sac fly. And finally, the Eagles scored their final two runs when Ayscue recorded n RBI single, then Martinez did the same.

Martinez led the Eagles offense with a pair of base hits and three RBIs, Ayscue and Oliver artin picked up two hits each.

The Eagles are back in action against Eastern Mennonite on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Fredericksburg, Va.
