Mary Washington Baseball Blows Out Susquehanna

Using hot bats and five stellar innings via the right arm of Justin Ritz, the Mary Washington baseball team (3-0) handled Susquehanna rather easily, 11-3, on Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles scored first with a four-run second inning, powered by George Rizzo's two-RBI doube and Ryan Schwarz's two-run single, then added another run in the third inning off of Luke Guerzon's sacrafice fly.

Ritz powered the Eagles through the first five innings, yielding his first run in the fifth. On the way through his five innings of one-run ball, Ritz struck out four, walked just one gave up three hits. Brendan McComber, meanwhile, recorded the save for UMW after pitching the final four innings out of the bullpen. McComber allowed two runs on four hits, while striking out a pair of hitters.

Ty Lowe doubled twice and added a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth, while Guerzon and Rizzo double once as well.

The Eagles are back in action on Sunday with a matchup against Washington College. First pitch is set for 2:15 p.m.
