UMW Baseball Falls at #10 Christopher Newport, 11-2

The University of Mary Washington baseball team dropped an 11-2 decision at 10th ranked Christopher Newport University on Saturday afternoon in Newport News. The Eagles slip to 26-11 on the season.

The Captains jumped on top early, scoring three runs in the first and one in the second. The Eagles gained a run in the third, as Jonathan Sedmak ripped a solo home run. CNU tacked on three more in their half of the third to lead, 7-1. After three more runs from the home team in the fifth, both teams scored one in the eighth. The Eagles came via a Philip Woodard double, driving home Xavier Herring.

Ty Lowe had a pair of hits to complement Sedmak's home run and Woodard's double. Jackson Myers took the loss, allowing 10 earned runs on 11 hits in 4.2 innings, with four walks and one strikeout.

The Eagles and Captains will play again tomorrow at Capital One Park in Tysons, Va.
