
The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the seventh week of the 2023 baseball season. Mary Washington's Noah Roots was named C2C Player of the Week, while the Eagles Brendan McComber claimed C2C Pitcher of the Week honors.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Noah Roots, Mary Washington
Junior Noah Roots was just one of Mary Washington's top hitters this week, batting .643 (9-14) with seven RBI and three multi-hit games, as the Eagles went 5-0 on the week. Roots had a single and double with a run scored and RBI in a win at Bridgewater on Wednesday and added a single and double with an RBI in the opener at Susquehanna on Saturday. He capped his week with five hits, including a double and home run, with five RBI in a 12-4 win in the finale at Susquehanna on Sunday.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Brendan McComber, Mary Washington
Junior Brendan McComber won a pair of games this week, as #32 Mary Washington ran its win streak to nine straight. The junior opened the week with four innings of one-hit relief in gaining the win over Southern Virginia on Tuesday, walking none and striking out six. On Sunday, McComber threw five no-hit innings in a 12-4 win at Susquehanna, walking three and striking out six. For the week, McComber allowed one hit in nine innings, with 12 strikeouts.
