David Lambertson Named UMW Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year

All-conference and all-region outfielder David Lambertson has been named as the 2020-21 University of Mary Washington Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Due to COVID-19 this year, award winners were selected among the senior class based on their career statistics and academic achievements.

A three-year starter, Lambertson graduated with honors in May with a 3.902 grade-point average as a computer science major.  He led the Coast 2 Coast Athletic Conference in batting with a .397 average with just four strkeouts all season. He posted 31 hits, with 19 RBI and 16 runs scored.

He was named first team-all-conference, and also gained all-region honors by the American Baseball Coaches Association. For his career, Lambertson played in 74 games, with a 83 hits and a .335 average, with 48 RBI and 43 runs scored.

Academically, he is a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma academic honor society, and gained academic all-conference honors every year. He was also selected as an academic all-state selection by VaSID this spring.

The UMW Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards are the longest tenured awards chosen by the athletic department, dating back to 1990.
