UMW Baseball Falls to Methodist on Tuesday

The University of Mary Washington baseball team saw its three-game win streak snapped on Tuesday, as the Eagles fell to Methodist University at V. Earl Dickinson Stadium, 16-2. The Eagles slip to 9-13 on the season.

The Monarchs opened with a run in the third inning, and erupted for 12 in the fourth. The Eagles scored in the fifth as Marcel Barrett, Sam Freeborne, and Kevin France all singled, and another in the seventh on a single from Nick Bass, who came around to score on an error.

Methodist added three in the eighth for the final margin.

The Eagles were led by freshman center fielder Norman Holcomb, who posted two hits. Cole Gabriele took the loss on the mound, allowing four earned runs on two hits in 3.1 innings. 

UMW will return to action on Friday when they host Penn State Harrisburg in the first of a three game CAC series at 3 p.m.
