
The 18th ranked University of Mary Washington baseball team saw its season-opening nine-game winning streak come to an end in a 14-6 loss to Catholic University on Wednesday in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Catholic jumped ahead with a pair of runs in the first, four in the second, one in the third, and seven in the fourth. The Eagles scored once in the first on a Mitch Moynihan double and David Slupek single. In the second, Thomas Weaver doubled and scored and Kyle Bynum reached on a strikeout and scored.
In the fifth, James Sink singled and drove in a run, and Tyler Truslow walked and scored on a Thomas Weaver double. Weaver and Slupek doubled to score a run in the ninth.
The Eagles will be back in action on Thursday when they face Plattsburgh State University at 6:00 p.m.
