UMW Baseball Welcomes Back More Than 40 Alumni for Alumni Golf/Baseball Weekend

The University of Mary Washington baseball team welcomed back more than 40 alumni on Friday and Saturday for the annual golf tournament and second annual baseball alumni game on October 25-26.

Festivities began on Friday with the annual golf outing at Meadows Farms Golf Club with a best-ball captains choice tournament, followed by dinner. Lee Rubin captivated the audience by smashing the longest drive of the day. Alex Bryant, Connor Finnerty, and Thomas Weaver bought the most Mulligans and were the disputed champions.

On Saturday, 46 former players suited up to face the current team. The alums were welcomed by Director of Athletics Ken Tyler, and special assistant and NFL Hall of Famer Darrell Green threw out the first pitch. The current team was able to outlast the alumni in the game.

"I am honored, encouraged and impressed by the turnout", aid head coach Wayne Riser. "We hope to continue our strong bond with our alumni as we move forward."
