The University of Mary Washington baseball team closed the season with a doubleheader split against Marymount University in Capital Athletic Conference play on Saturday at Dickinson Stadium. The Eagles dropped the opener, 7-5, before winning the nightcap, 8-1.

The Eagles fell in game one after allowing two late runs. UMW jumped ahead, 3-0, in the first, as Brian Burns led off with a single, and James Sink was hit by a pitch. Both runners stole to move to second and third, and Sink scored on a passed ball. Derek Nease singled to drive in Sink, and Connor Finnerty drove home James Keller with a sacrifice fly.

The Eagles added another run in the seocnd, as Burns singled and advanced to third on an error. Jono Haught followed with a sacrifice fly.

The Saints scored one in the fifth and four in the sixth to take a 5-4 lead, but the Eagles tied the score in the seventh, as Finnerty provided another sac fly. The Saints scored one in the eighth and one in the ninth for the win.

Burns and Nease each had two hits to lead the Eagle offense, with Burns and Sink scoring twice and Finnerty providing two RBI. Senior Seth Taylor pitched five innings of one-hit ball with five strikeouts in his final start, but gained a no decision.

In the second game, the Eagles erupted for six first inning runs for an 8-1 win. Singles from Sink, Haught, and Keller preceded an RBI from Nease, and a pair of runs scored on a Finnerty double. Thomas Weaver scored on a wild pitch, and Cuyler Matteson followed with an RBI single.

In the third, Finnerty tripled to lead off, and scored on a Weaver sac fly. Finnerty doubled and scored on a wild pitch in the fifth. The Saints scored once in the sixth. Senior Ben Sisk gained the win, allowing one run in 5.1 innings on four hits, capping a productive day for all three of the Eagle seniors. He struck out five.
