The University of Mary Washington baseball team rallied back from a 7-2 deficit to tie the score, but fell, 12-8, on Wednesday in Capital Athletic Conference action at Frostburg State University. The Eagles fall to 12-13 on the season.

UMW jumped ahead with a pair of runs in the first, as Brian Burns led off reaching on an error, and scored on a double by Jono Haught. Haught scored on a single by James Sink to push the lead to 2-0. The Bobcats answered with two in the first, four in the second, and one in the third, to take a 7-2 lead.

In the fourth, Tyler Truslow walked and scored on a Brian Burns RBI single. The Bobcats countered with a home run in the bottom of the inning to move the score to 8-3.

The Eagles erupted for five runs in the seventh. After a pair of walks to start the inning, Kevin Stein scored on a groundout by Haught, and Burns scored on a James Keller double. After a pitching change, UMW connected for four straight hits, with Derek Nease, Connor Finnerty, and Truslow each providing run-scoring hits, tying the score at eight. But Frostburg scored four in the bottom of the seventh, and held on for the 12-8 victory.

Nease led the Eagles with three hits, a run scored, and an RBI, while Keller, Sink, and Truslow each had a pair of hits. Andrew Slupek took the tough-luck loss, allowing one unearned run in two innings on two hits.

The Eagles will return to action on Thursday when they visit Bridgewater College at 4:00 p.m.
